According to the fire authorities, at around 8:55 a.m. on the 5th, a fire broke out on the basement level 1 of a seven-story hospital building located in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, prompting the evacuation of 192 people, including 128 staff members and 64 inpatients and examination patients.
The fire department deployed 101 personnel and 21 pieces of equipment to extinguish the fire about 40 minutes after it started. No casualties were reported.

The fire authorities believe the fire started from a cigarette butt spark in the waste collection area inside the underground parking lot and are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
