Gang Eun-mi, the Green Justice Party candidate for Seo-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, has been reported for violating the Public Official Election Act.
The campaign headquarters of Yang Bu-nam, the Democratic Party candidate for Seo-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 29th that they have filed a complaint with the Gwangju Western Police Station and the Gwangju Election Commission against Gang’s side for violating Article 250 (False Statement Publication) of the Public Official Election Act regarding a video that portrayed candidate Yang as a vampire “caricature.”

The video raised as an issue by Yang’s campaign headquarters is being broadcast from Gang’s campaign vehicle. The video features a caricature of candidate Yang with the image of a devil. Yang’s campaign headquarters judged that linking the profession of a prosecutor with “a very bad person” and portraying Yang, a former prosecutor, as a “devil” could implant such a perception among the residents of Seo-gu.
Yang’s campaign headquarters claimed, “Gang’s side inserted candidate Yang’s character into lyrics mentioning recruitment corruption, stock manipulation, luxury bags, investigation cover-ups, and bulletproof politics, which are completely unrelated incidents,” adding, “This creates the impression that candidate Yang is involved in or related to illegal acts such as recruitment corruption and stock manipulation.”
They continued, “There is growing resentment toward Gang’s election strategy that uses the lease and coin cases handled by candidate Yang to portray him as a fraudster,” emphasizing, “Although demonizing the opponent through false revelations and black propaganda may be temporarily sweet, it will face a backlash from public sentiment.”
