Geumcheon-gu Hosts 'Making Memories with New Semester Friends' Youth Party
Operating quarterly with different themes for 100 local youths aged 9 to 24
In Q1, providing experiential opportunities to build friendships with new classmates at the start of the school year
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will hold a party for youth at 2 p.m. on the 30th at the Geumcheon Youth Culture House.
The event was organized to help improve youth's self-directedness and self-efficacy through planning and operating the party themselves, as well as to promote healthy interpersonal relationships.
Earlier this year, the district selected 10 middle and high school students from the area as the "Youth Party Planning Team." The team selects programs reflecting youth interests and operates parties each quarter where participants can experience various activities.
The first quarter's theme is "Making Memories with New Friends in the New Semester," offering experiential programs where students can build friendships with new classmates.
The party is open to all local youth aged 9 to 24 and is operated through pre-registration programs and ongoing programs.
The pre-registration programs include ▲making Moru doll keychains ▲making eco-friendly soap. Youth who wish to participate can apply via the QR code on the promotional materials, with spots filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The ongoing programs include ▲taking four-cut photo strips with friends ▲making friendship bracelets ▲1:1 Tossball matches (a new sport where players roll or throw balls at circular targets with scores) ▲shooting short videos encouraging voting ▲Nintendo bowling and volleyball games ▲O/X quizzes, all available without prior registration.
The second quarter will be themed "Youth Month," the third quarter "Summer," and the fourth quarter "Christmas."
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon said, "We prepared events tailored to youth perspectives by reflecting what the Youth Party Planning Team wants and enjoys," adding, "We will continue to support programs and cultural spaces where youth can freely express their talents and passion."
