Name of Fire Safety Complex Opening in April Next Year Decided as 'Gyeonggi-do Fire Safety Maru'
The name of the ‘Gyeonggi-do Fire Safety Complex Building,’ which will open newly in April next year, has been decided as ‘Gyeonggi-do Fire Safety Maru.’
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters conducted a naming contest for residents from February 19 to March 3, in line with the plan to build the nation’s first resident safety complex building. Amid great interest from residents, a total of 583 entries were received, and after internal screening by the Fire and Disaster Headquarters, voting by all fire officials, and a third round of evaluation including external experts, the final selected name was confirmed.

Jo Sun-ho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, said, "‘Gyeonggi-do Fire Safety Maru’ is a Korean name that conveys a warm and familiar feeling, meaning an open and shared space that protects the safety of residents." He added, "We will do our best to make it a world-class fire safety space, true to its name."

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi-do will establish the ‘Fire Safety Complex Building’ by April next year at the old Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly building on Paldal Mountain in Suwon, gathering six facilities in one place: the Safety Control Center, Safety Experience Center, Trauma Center, Fire History Museum, Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, and others. The Fire and Disaster Headquarters is expected to relocate as early as June.
