Gwangjin-gu, Joint Inspection of Harmful Environments for Youth in the New Semester
Joint Crackdown on New Harmful Businesses Around Konkuk University Station for New Semester
District Office, Police Station, and Youth Harmful Environment Monitoring Team with 33 Participants Inspect Violations
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) conducted a joint crackdown on harmful environments for youth on the 18th to mark the new school semester. The purpose was to inspect room cafes and multi-rooms, which have recently emerged as new places of deviation for teenagers, to prevent youth crime and delinquency in advance.
This crackdown involved 33 members of a joint task force composed of Gwangjin District Office, Gwangjin Police Station, and the Youth Harmful Environment Monitoring Team. Focusing on Konkuk University Station, where many youths are active, they intensively guided and inspected three room cafes and one multi-room for violations of the "Youth Protection Act."
The inspection items included ▲whether harmful business signs for youth were displayed ▲violations of youth entry and employment prohibitions ▲sale of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes to youth ▲installation of hidden cameras in restrooms. For harmful businesses to youth, they carefully checked whether youth entry and employment restrictions were actually being enforced.
Additionally, they carried out activities such as ▲distributing promotional materials on the Youth Protection Act ▲collecting harmful flyers targeting youth.
The district plans to continue managing the situation through joint public-private-police campaigns and surprise inspections to prevent youth from being exposed to harmful environments. Strong measures such as correction orders and fines will be imposed if violations are detected.
