Approximately 700 Million KRW in Educational Expense Subsidies Provided to 43 Schools Operating Support Personnel
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) is providing approximately 700 million KRW in educational expense subsidies to 43 schools operating the ‘Learning Support Coordinator’ and ‘Special Education and Management Target Student Education Support Project.’
The ‘Learning Support Coordinator’ is an auxiliary staff member who supports students facing learning difficulties due to various factors, responsible for individualized and customized learning for ▲ students at risk of learning and emotional-behavioral issues such as ADHD ▲ students separated for the protection of educational activities ▲ students targeted for basic academic skill improvement.
The district has been expanding auxiliary staff annually to address growing social concerns about the decline in basic academic skills and school isolation among students struggling with learning.
This year, the number of coordinators has increased by 6 compared to the previous year, with a total of 24 Learning Support Coordinators assigned to 20 schools (16 elementary, 4 middle schools), and an educational expense subsidy of 168 million KRW is provided for customized learning operations.
Additionally, the district is promoting the ‘Special Education and Management Target Student Education Support’ project to assist special education students in smoothly adapting to school life (daily activities, adaptation activities, learning activities, etc.).
Educational expense subsidies of 549 million KRW are provided to 23 schools (6 kindergartens, 12 elementary, 5 middle schools), deploying a total of 27 auxiliary staff to help special education students adapt and strengthen individualized education, striving to create an environment where all children can receive equal education according to their abilities.
