The Changwon Fire Headquarters in Gyeongnam conducted a joint training exercise with the 119 Special Response Team in the Taebaek-dong area of Jinhae-gu to prepare for earthquakes.
The training, held on the 20th, was organized to share practical and realistic rescue techniques through various training scenarios and to establish a collaborative system by region.
On that day, over 70 members of the 119 Special Response Teams from seven organizations in the Yeongnam region, including Changwon, Jungang, Busan, Daegu, Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, and Ulsan, participated in a drill simulating a magnitude 7.1 earthquake near the coast of Jinhae-gu, conducting vehicle and burial accident response training.
The training began with communication exercises using the disaster safety communication network due to damage to the general communication system, utilizing various equipment possessed by the Yeongnam region 119 Special Response Teams. It concluded with integrated life rescue operations suited to the disaster site, response to sudden incidents, and collaborative training among the special response teams.
In particular, this year's training focused intensively on disaster response by selecting landslide and soil burial areas for collapse site search drills and deploying rescue dogs.
