Gyeonggi Province aims to provide the 'Opportunity Income for Farmers and Fishermen' proposed by Kim Dong-yeon within this year and is holding a series of briefings and large-scale discussions.
The Opportunity Income for Farmers and Fishermen is a project that provides approximately 17,700 young farmers and fishermen (under 50 years old), returnee farmers and fishermen (within the last 5 years), and environmentally friendly farmers and fishermen (eco-friendly, animal welfare, premium seafood) with 150,000 KRW per month, totaling 1.8 million KRW annually, paid in local currency.
In May, Gyeonggi Province will hold a large-scale discussion involving agricultural and fishery-related organizations and experts to expand consensus on the Opportunity Income for Farmers and Fishermen.

Jin Hak-hoon, Director of the Agricultural Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We are currently proceeding with administrative procedures, including consultations on establishing health and welfare and social security systems, to provide the Opportunity Income for Farmers and Fishermen in the fourth quarter of this year," adding, "We will do our best to ensure the Opportunity Income is paid on time."
