Yeongam-gun Anticipates Reenactment of Korea-Japan Cultural Exchange at Wangin Culture Festival
Presenting a Special Program Co-Planned with Busan Cultural Foundation
Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, will present a special program jointly planned by the Yeongam Culture and Tourism Foundation and the Busan Cultural Foundation at the ‘2024 Yeongam Wangin Cultural Festival,’ held at the Wangin Doctor Historic Site from the 28th to the 31st.
According to the county on the 19th, on Saturday the 30th, the ‘Wangin Procession Street Play’ and the ‘Joseon Tongsinsa Procession Reenactment’ will take place together.
Wangin Doctor and the Tongsinsa delegation were important figures in Korea-Japan exchanges, and their achievements and spirit are regarded as valuable assets in Korea-Japan relations to this day.

This parade highlights the commonalities between Wangin Doctor and the Joseon Tongsinsa, providing an opportunity to once again reflect on peace and friendship between Korea and Japan.
The Wangin Procession Street Play and the Joseon Tongsinsa procession reenact the journey of Wangin Doctor of Baekje and the Joseon Tongsinsa to Japan, showcasing the era’s atmosphere and cultural heritage through traditional costumes, music, and the procession.
Additionally, a joint performance featuring various cultural groups from Busan and Yeongam will be one of the highlights of the festival.
During the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to deeply explore the historical background and heritage of Wangin Doctor and the Joseon Tongsinsa, emphasizing the importance of Korea-Japan exchanges by strengthening cultural ties and promoting friendship between Busan and Yeongam.
Through the collaboration between the Busan Cultural Foundation and the Yeongam Culture and Tourism Foundation, diversity and richness are added to the Wangin Cultural Festival, strengthening bonds in the cultural tourism sector between Busan and Yeongam and creating a communication platform for joint promotion of cultural and artistic projects through networking between the foundations.
Through this, they plan to lay the foundation for continuous cultural exchange and cooperation and create an advanced festival environment befitting the festival city of Yeongam.
