Geumcheon-gu Leads Child Traffic Safety with Installation of Smart Poles (Traffic Lights·CCTV)
Geumcheon-gu Selected for 'Seoul Integrated Safety Smart Pole Construction Project'... 400 Million KRW Budget This Year to Install Intelligent Poles (Smart Poles) in Child Protection Zones with Speeding and Illegal Parking Warning LED Screens, Security CCTV, and Emergency Bells
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has been selected for Seoul City's 'Integrated Safety Smart Pole Construction Contest Project.'
An intelligent pole (smart pole) refers to a facility that combines intelligent urban technologies with signal poles, streetlight poles, and closed-circuit television (CCTV) poles.
Depending on the installation environment, technologies such as public Wi-Fi, Internet of Things (IoT), intelligent crosswalks, electric vehicle charging, and autonomous cooperative driving are integrated. By installing poles that were previously installed individually by function in an integrated manner, it is possible to reduce costs as well as improve urban aesthetics.
The district plans to invest a total budget of 400 million KRW this year to install eight integrated safety intelligent poles (smart poles) in child protection zones within the area. It will integrate child traffic safety facilities such as LED electronic display boards for speeding and illegal parking guidance, security CCTV, emergency bells, and public Wi-Fi facilities. Construction will begin in May and is expected to be completed by November.
A Geumcheon-gu official said, "We expect that traffic accidents in child protection zones will significantly decrease once the integrated safety intelligent poles (smart poles) are completed."
