China Strengthens Generative AI Regulations... Must Label as "AI Generated" or "Fiction"
Chinese authorities have stepped up regulations on artificial intelligence (AI)-generated information.
According to the state-run Global Times on the 17th, the Cyberspace Administration of China announced on the 15th that its key tasks will include ▲identifying AI-generated content ▲rectifying corporate-related personal information violations ▲cracking down on illegal internet news and information services ▲and correcting "false and vulgar chaos" in live streaming.
The Cyberspace Administration of China urged websites to label content as 'AI-generated' and 'fiction' and to take action against illegal accounts that use generative and synthetic algorithm technologies to create rumors or exaggerated advertisements.
Wang Feng, associate researcher at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, said that China's AI-related industry will achieve significant development centered on generative AI this year, adding, "It is necessary to improve regulatory policies for the responsible use of AI technology and the protection of data privacy."

According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, as of last year, the adoption rate of generative AI among Chinese companies was about 15%, and the market size reached 14.4 trillion yuan (approximately 2,662 trillion won).
