Police Raid Gangdong Nonghyup... Allegations of Illegal Donations Against Assemblywoman Jeon Juhye
The police conducted a search and seizure operation targeting officials of Gangdong Nonghyup suspected of illegally donating political contributions to Jeon Ju-hye, a member of the People Power Party.
On the 14th, the Gangdong Police Station in Seoul announced that it had carried out a search and seizure at Gangdong Nonghyup from the morning. Park Mo, the head of the cooperative, and two others are suspected of violating the Political Funds Act by deducting 100,000 won each from the salaries of employees at the manager level or higher without prior consent to donate as political contributions.
Under current law, if someone improperly mediates donations from others by using work, employment, or other relationships, both the mediator and the recipient can face up to five years in prison or a fine of up to 10 million won.
