Emart Hosts Mango and Orange Selection Event... Each Priced in the '1000 Won Range'
Mangoes Priced at 2,000 Won for Large Size
Discount Sales on Tomatoes, Grapes, and More
Emart announced on the 14th that it will hold a pick-and-mix event for mangoes and oranges until the 21st.
At the event, Emart will sell 5 large-sized mangoes (around 350g each, from Thailand) or 4 extra-large mangoes (around 415g each) for 10,000 KRW. For navel oranges (from the USA), 10 extra-large oranges (around 230g each) or 8 jumbo-sized oranges (around 300g each) will be sold for 10,000 KRW. When converted to unit prices, this is about 2,000 KRW per large mango and 1,000 KRW per extra-large orange.
Emart cited the introduction of mango tariff quotas with direct discounts, bulk purchasing, and improvements in the distribution structure as reasons for being able to offer mangoes and oranges at such low prices. They also reduced intermediate distribution stages by selling in bulk (unpackaged display) and lowered prices by planning a volume four times higher than usual weekly sales for one week.
