Gyeonggi Fire Department Offers CPR Mannequins for Free Rental
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters is launching a ‘Free Mannequin Rental Service for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).’
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 13th that it plans to have 10 million residents complete CPR training by 2029 and increase the on-site CPR implementation rate to 75%. To facilitate convenient practice in daily life, they are introducing a free CPR mannequin rental service.
Residents who wish to rent a mannequin can apply at the disaster prevention department of the nearest fire station and borrow it for up to 5 days. By renting a CPR mannequin, they can watch educational videos available on the Fire and Disaster Headquarters’ official YouTube channel and practice CPR directly at home, workplace, or other locations.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters plans to conduct a 3-month pilot project targeting three areas?Gimpo, Pyeongtaek, and Yangju?to establish the free CPR equipment rental service, then address any shortcomings and expand the program throughout the province.
Jo Seon-ho, head of the Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "Research shows that when CPR is performed by the first witness during emergencies such as cardiac arrest, the survival rate of cardiac arrest patients increases more than threefold. Along with ongoing outreach education and fire station experience classes, we expect that the rental of practice equipment will further activate self-directed training."
