'Rogiwan' Tops Netflix Non-English Film Category
Top 10 Entry in 31 Countries... Ranking Rises
The movie 'Rogiwan' starring Song Joong-ki has ranked number one in the global non-English film category on Netflix. According to Netflix on the 13th, it recorded 5.1 million views (the number of views divided by the total running time of the work) during the second week of this month (April 4-10). It climbed the rankings by entering the top 10 in thirty-one countries including South Korea, Portugal, Peru, Venezuela, Malaysia, and Turkey. In the first week of this month, it was ranked third (February 26 - March 3). At that time, 'Through My Window 3: The Gaze That Stays With You,' which held the first place, dropped to second with 2.5 million views. 'Abyss,' which was second, plummeted to fifth place with 1.5 million views.
'Rogiwan' is a story about a North Korean defector named Giwan, who arrives in Belgium with his last hope in life, and a woman named Mari, who has lost her reason for living, who are drawn to each other. Director Kim Hee-jin directed the film based on the novel 'I Met Rogiwan' by writer Jo Hae-jin.

In the global non-English TV category, 'Doctor Slump' starring Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik, and 'Queen of Tears' starring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won performed relatively well. They ranked 5th and 7th respectively, recording 2.2 million and 1.2 million views. The first place was taken by 'Puri' Season 1 with 7.9 million views.
