Korea-US-India Hold Core Emerging Technologies Dialogue... Government and Companies to Foster Cooperation
Expanding the Horizon of Core Emerging Technology Cooperation to India
On the 12th, the governments of Korea, the United States, and India agreed to enhance mutual understanding regarding key emerging technologies such as bio-pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and critical minerals, and to create opportunities for future cooperation between governments and private companies.
According to the National Security Office, deputy-level officials from the security offices of the three countries held a Key Emerging Technologies Dialogue in Seoul on the same day. This meeting followed last year's first Korea-US Next-Generation Key Emerging Technologies Dialogue, where it was agreed to expand the bilateral Korea-US dialogue to include India.
Korea was represented by Wang Yoon-jong, Third Deputy Director of the National Security Office; the United States by Tarun Chhabra, Senior Director for Technology and National Security at the National Security Council (NSC); and India by Lekhan Thakar, Secretary of the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), each attending as the chief representative.

View original imageDuring the meeting, the three countries discussed enhancing mutual understanding and concrete cooperation measures on common interests in key emerging technology fields including ▲bio-pharmaceuticals ▲semiconductor supply chains ▲clean energy and critical minerals ▲artificial intelligence ▲space ▲quantum ▲advanced materials, the National Security Office explained.
Additionally, the three countries agreed to hold the next meeting at an appropriate time this year and to create opportunities for cooperation involving governments and private companies of the three countries in the near future.
An official from the National Security Office stated, "This meeting is evaluated as a milestone in expanding our key emerging technology cooperation, which had been mainly conducted with the United States and Japan, to include India."

He added, "In particular, India possesses excellent technical personnel, plays a key role in the pharmaceutical supply chain sector, and leads research in space fields such as lunar exploration. Cooperation with India is expected to contribute to enhancing our country's core technological capabilities."
