Gwangju Dong-gu Takes Proactive Measures Against Seasonal Infectious Diseases in Spring New Semester
On the 12th, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will distribute 'Seasonal Infectious Disease Prevention Materials' to childcare institutions such as daycare centers and kindergartens to prevent infectious diseases that mainly occur during the spring new semester.
During the new semester, when group activities increase after the start of school, respiratory diseases such as measles, colds, and influenza, mumps, chickenpox, epidemic keratoconjunctivitis (epidemic conjunctivitis), and waterborne infectious diseases frequently occur.
Dong-gu plans to produce promotional materials containing the types of infectious diseases and prevention methods that childcare institution staff and guardians must know for the new semester and deliver them to children's homes through each institution.
In addition, starting this month, Dong-gu will actively promote infectious disease prevention by conducting infectious disease prevention education and handwashing programs targeting childcare institutions such as daycare centers and kindergartens in the district.
A Dong-gu Public Health Center official said, "To prevent infectious diseases, it is important to wash hands frequently with soap under running water and avoid touching the nose or eyes," adding, "When coughing or sneezing, please follow proper 'cough etiquette' by covering your mouth with tissue, handkerchief, or sleeve."
