Completion of Gangjin Tour Cycling Race and Community Sports Badminton Tournament
Contributing to Local Economic Revitalization by Cycling on Weekdays and Playing Badminton on Weekends
Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 12th that the 71st Samiljeol Commemorative Gangjin Tour National Road Cycling Competition, held from the 5th to the 9th along the roads of Gangjin-gun, was successfully concluded.
This competition, proud of its history and tradition, was held to honor the historic significance of the March 1st Movement and was hosted and organized by the Korea Cycling Federation.
About 300 elite athletes and 300 amateur cyclists from across the country participated, racing along the roads of Gangjin-gun and attracting much attention as they enjoyed the beauty and scenery of Gangjin.
Additionally, from the weekend of the 9th to the 10th, the 2024 Gangjin Celadon Cup Jeonnam Recreational Badminton Competition was held at the 1st and 2nd gymnasiums and local school gymnasiums, with about 1,320 badminton teams and over 2,500 participants competing fiercely.
Gangjin-gun estimates that this event generated approximately 4 billion KRW in economic effects, greatly contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.

Gangjinwon, the county governor, stated, “Gangjin-gun is progressing beyond sports competitions with the ‘2024 Half-Price Gangjin Tourism Year’ project,” adding, “Through this, we are preparing to take another leap forward as a premium sports city.”
