Significant Increase in Funding from Initially Planned 3.1 Billion Won
Support for Hiring Medical Staff at 31 Private Hospitals in Seoul
Hospital Directors Can Discretionarily Use Funds Where Urgently Needed
As the medical gap caused by the resignation of residents continues, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has significantly increased the budget for the emergency recruitment of private medical personnel to minimize damage to critically ill and emergency patients.
On the 8th, at a meeting with heads of major hospitals in Seoul, the city announced that it would invest 10.7 billion KRW to resolve issues such as manpower shortages at emergency medical institutions. The support targets private hospitals operating 31 regional and local emergency medical centers in Seoul, and the funds can be flexibly used at the discretion of hospital directors for urgent needs such as hiring personnel to maintain emergency room functions and substitute work allowances.

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon accepted the hospital directors’ requests for active city support to maintain critical and emergency functions, significantly increasing the support fund to 10.7 billion KRW and expanding its scope. Up to 500 million KRW will be provided to seven regional emergency medical centers, and up to 300 million KRW to 24 local emergency centers.
The scope of the support fund, previously limited to personnel expenses for emergency room operations, has been expanded so that hospital directors can use it at their discretion for essential departments and other costs necessary for behind-the-scenes medical care to maintain emergency room functions. Under the 'advance support, later settlement' system, hospitals can use the funds immediately when needed and then complete administrative procedures afterward.
