Gangjin-gun, Strong Impact of Gangjin Love Gift Certificate Event During Cheongja Festival Period
6x Increase in Consumption per Investment... Festival Venue and Eupnae Commercial District Win-Win
Small Business Owners, Gangjin Residents, and Tourists All Satisfied with 'Triple Win' Effect
Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 8th that the distribution amount of the Gangjin Love Gift Certificate sharing event, conducted for customers who purchased goods during the ‘52nd Cheongja Festival’ at the festival site and Gangjin-eup Market, exceeded 163 million KRW, resulting in an actual consumption effect of 960 million KRW.
This event aimed to support small business owners and revitalize the local economy. During the 10-day festival period, 20% of the amount spent on the same day, ranging from 50,000 KRW to 200,000 KRW, was returned as Gangjin Love Gift Certificates. Participation was limited to once per person, and receipts from merchants with annual sales exceeding 3 billion KRW were excluded.

Over the ten days of the festival, there were 5,775 participants, and the total distribution amount reached 163 million KRW. Among this, the Cheongja Festival site accounted for 62 million KRW (38%), while Gangjin-eup Market accounted for 110 million KRW (62%), a larger share than the festival site. This is evaluated as having effectively revitalized the commercial district within Gangjin-eup, which could have been relatively neglected during the festival period.
The total amount spent on receipts by consumers participating in the event was 960 million KRW, which is six times the distribution amount of 163 million KRW, indicating a high actual economic ripple effect relative to the investment.
Looking at the regional statistics of participants, 52% were residents of Gangjin-gun, 22% from Jeolla (excluding Gangjin), and 13% from Gwangju, showing a high participation rate from Gangjin residents and tourists from nearby areas.
Analysis of the consumption locations on receipts showed that simple purchases (food, goods, etc.) ranked first at 28%, restaurants second at 24%, and pottery purchases third at 23%. The fact that pottery purchases, the representative product of the Cheongja Festival, ranked in the top three demonstrates the successful economic ripple effect of the local festival, connecting the festival buzz from the festival site to Gangjin-eup.
