Integrated Biogas Production Facility to Be Established in Buyeo, Chungnam
An integrated biogas production facility will be established in Buyeo, Chungnam.
Chungnam Province announced on the 8th that eight regions nationwide, including Buyeo-gun, were finally selected in the recent Ministry of Environment-led contest for the ‘Installation Project of Integrated Biogas Facilities for Organic Waste Resources.’
The facility will operate by producing biogas through the input of two or more types of organic waste resources such as sewage sludge, manure, livestock manure, and food waste.
Buyeo-gun plans to build an organic waste resource processing and production facility with a daily processing capacity of 140 tons of livestock manure and 10 tons of food waste. The produced biogas can replace fossil fuels and be converted into city gas and electricity, contributing to the implementation of carbon neutrality and resolving environmental issues such as odor, Chungnam Province expects.
Chungnam Province plans to secure 37.1 billion KRW of national funding out of the estimated total project cost of 47.1 billion KRW, start the project this year, and complete the facility construction by the first half of 2028.
As of the end of 2022, integrated biogas facilities for organic waste resources are operating at 45 sites nationwide. In Chungnam, six facilities are in operation. Among these, two public sector facilities include the resource circulation-type biogas facility in Seosan-si and the organic waste energy facility in Geumsan-gun.
