Former President Kim Young-sam's Wife Son Myung-soon Passes Away at Age 96 (Update)
Son Myung-soon, the wife of former President Kim Young-sam, passed away on the 7th at the age of 96.
According to the medical community, Mrs. Son passed away late in the afternoon at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, due to an illness. It has been nine years since former President Kim passed away in 2015.
Mrs. Son married former President Kim in 1951 while she was a junior at Ewha Womans University. At that time, Kim had just entered politics as a secretary to Jang Taek-sang, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. Since then, Mrs. Son shared 65 years of marriage with former President Kim until his passing, enduring both hardships and joys together. In political circles, she was regarded as a 'supportive wife' who remained the spouse of an opposition politician throughout her life, assisting her husband's health and mood.

She is survived by two sons and three daughters, including Kim Hyun-chul, chairman of the Kim Young-sam Presidential Memorial Foundation, whom she had with former President Kim. Although the funeral hall has not yet been arranged, it is known that it will be set up at Seoul National University Hospital.
