Choi Yoon appointed Vice Chairman of Korea-Japan Economic Association, Chairman of OK Financial Group
"I will utilize the network of Zainichi Korean entrepreneurs"
OK Financial Group announced on the 7th that the Korea-Japan Economic Association appointed Choi Yoon, Chairman of OK Financial Group, as Vice Chairman at its 43rd regular general meeting. Since its establishment in 1981, the Korea-Japan Economic Association has operated various initiatives including the Korea-Japan Businessmen's Meeting, exchange programs for Korean and Japanese high school students, strengthening cooperation between regions in both countries, and hosting Korea-Japan new industry trade conferences.
Chairman Choi will serve as Vice Chairman of the Korea-Japan Economic Association for the next three years, acting as a communication channel to promote mutual exchanges between Korea and Japan. As a third-generation Korean resident in Japan who spent his childhood in Japan, Chairman Choi is expected to serve as a bridge connecting the business communities of both countries by leveraging his network within Japan.
Chairman Choi stated, “It is meaningful to participate alongside senior and junior business leaders representing the Republic of Korea at a crucial time ahead of the 60th anniversary of Korea-Japan normalization of diplomatic relations to discuss strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries. As an entrepreneur of Korean-Japanese descent, I will utilize my accumulated experience and network to contribute not only to the development of the association but also to the promotion of grassroots exchanges and the advancement of economic relations between Korea and Japan.”
Currently, Kim Yoon, Chairman of Samyang Holdings, serves as the President of the Korea-Japan Economic Association. The vice chairman group includes prominent business figures such as Kim Seung-yeon, Chairman of Hanwha Group; Shin Dong-bin, Chairman of Lotte Group; Cho Won-tae, Chairman of Hanjin Group; Yang Jong-hee, Chairman of KB Financial Group; and Jin Ok-dong, Chairman of Shinhan Financial Group. The leadership plans to strengthen partnerships among Korean and Japanese businesspeople by participating in major events such as the Korea-Japan Businessmen's Meeting scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan, this May.
