Gwangju Dongseong High School and Gwangju Girls' Commercial High School Receive 30 Million Won in Scholarships

A construction company in the Gwangju area is attracting attention for its continuous support to help students freely pursue their dreams and aspirations and grow into true workers.

Sam-il Construction Co., Ltd. and the Sam-il Paraview Cultural Scholarship Foundation (Chairman and Director Choi Gap-ryeol) donated 30 million KRW in scholarships on the 6th to their alma maters, Gwangju Dongseong High School and Gwangju Girls' Commercial High School.

Director Choi Gap-ryeol graduated (33rd class) from Gwangju Commercial High School, the former name of Gwangju Dongseong High School.

Since its establishment in 2019, the Sam-il Paraview Cultural Scholarship Foundation has supported the construction of libraries, scholarships for university students, and industry-academia cooperation project funds at universities in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions. Additionally, it provides scholarships to children of small business owners in the Gwangju area.

Moreover, Director Choi has provided approximately 3.5 billion KRW through scholarships and cultural and artistic support projects to date.

Sun Young-gu, principal of Gwangju Dongseong High School, said, “The strong love and trust between seniors and juniors is the greatest strength of the alumni of Yuin Academy,” adding, “I hope that the students will develop further toward their dreams and aspirations, inspired by the alumni’s love for their alma mater.”

Director Choi stated, “I established and operate the scholarship foundation with the belief that nurturing talents with true leadership is the way to contribute to national development and the future of the Republic of Korea,” and added, “I want to provide practical help so that students facing difficult situations can freely pursue their dreams and aspirations.”

He continued, “I want to support students so that they can grow into true workers who will greatly contribute to the advancement of human society in the future.”

Meanwhile, Gwangju Dongseong High School, under Yuin Academy, is a prestigious private school founded in 1921 by Choi Seon-jin of Yuin, who aimed to nurture talented individuals with a strong national spirit. This year marks the 103rd anniversary of the academy’s founding.
