Meeting with the Press at COEX on the 6th
Choi Yoon-ho, CEO of Samsung SDI, provided a specific timeline regarding the mass production of cylindrical 46-pi (46mm diameter) batteries, stating, "It can be sufficiently achieved by early 2025."
On the day of the 'InterBattery 2024' held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Choi told reporters, "We are ready for mass production." He added, "We will adjust the timing of mass production according to customer needs." Earlier, after the regular shareholders' meeting in March last year, Choi revealed, "We have installed production facilities for 46-pi batteries at the Cheonan plant in Chungnam," and said, "They will be operational in the first half of the year."
At this exhibition, Samsung SDI unveiled plans to complete preparations for mass production of high-nickel NCA (Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminum) 46-pi batteries by December this year, which are larger in size and have maximized performance compared to existing cylindrical batteries.
