Incheon City Election Commission Files Complaint Against Preliminary Candidate for 'Distorting Public Opinion Polls'
The Incheon City Election Commission announced on the 6th that it has reported preliminary candidate A to the police on charges of distorting and publicizing poll results related to the 22nd National Assembly election (violation of the Public Official Election Act).
Candidate A is suspected of selectively compiling and publicizing only the favorable parts of the election poll results. The problematic poll was a virtual matchup between Candidate A, other competitors from the same party, and candidates from different parties.
It was investigated that Candidate A excluded content related to candidates from other parties and created an image file showing that he ranked first in a virtual contest against competitors from the same party, then sent text messages to 19,000 residents of the electoral district.
According to Article 96 of the Public Official Election Act, it is prohibited to distort and publicize or report election poll results.
