Geochang Arimia Flower Festival Selected as a Specialized Festival in Gyeongnam Region
Contributing to the Promotion and Activation of Flower Consumption
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has been awarded 15 million KRW in the 2024 Gyeongsangnam-do Regional Specialized Festival Support Project, with the ‘Geochang Arimia Flower Festival’ selected as an A-grade festival.
The Regional Specialized Festival Support Project aims to discover and support outstanding festivals within the province, with 14 festivals from Gyeongnam applying for support.
The Arimia Flower Festival’s name combines Geochang’s old place name ‘Arim’ and the word for beauty (美, mi), meaning ‘Geochang’s beautiful flowers (Arimia flowers).’ The festival began in 2019 when flower farmers voluntarily donated over 100 species of flowers.
The festival not only promotes the excellence of flowers produced in Geochang-gun and contributes to revitalizing flower consumption through various flower-related exhibitions, sales, and experiences, but also plays a significant role in promoting major tourist sites such as Changpowon, the festival venue, and boosting tourism.
This year’s ‘5th Arimia Flower Festival’ is scheduled to be held at Geochang Changpowon in mid-May and will welcome visitors with various events including flower art exhibitions, flower breeding, flower tea, and pressed flower experience exhibitions.
