The 105-Year History We Preserved, The Beginning of Hope ... Yeongyang-gun Holds March 1st Movement Anniversary Ceremony
Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, held a commemorative ceremony at Mangmi Park in Cheonggi-myeon to inherit and develop the spirit of independence and to honor the achievements of the ancestors on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the March 1st Movement.
The event was attended by about 100 people, including County Governor O Do-chang, Kim Seok-hyun, chairman of the county council, county council members, Kim Ju-seong, chairman of the Liberation Association branch, veterans' organizations, descendants of independence activists, and heads of institutions and organizations. The ceremony proceeded with a report on the progress of the Yeongyang-gun March 1st Movement, reading of the Declaration of Independence, commemorative speeches, and singing of the March 1st Movement song.
Kim Ju-seong, chairman of the Liberation Association branch, read the Declaration of Independence, raising the atmosphere of the event, and the climax was reached with three cheers of "Manse" led by Kim Seok-hyun, chairman of the county council.
The attendees pledged, "Just as the proud ancestors of Yeongyang overcame any adversity and hardship, let us unite our strength to overcome challenges together for regional development and the happiness of the residents."

In his commemorative speech, County Governor O Do-chang said, "If all residents unite as one and pool their strength and wisdom, just like 105 years ago, I am confident that we will wisely overcome the difficulties ahead and achieve happy change and a hopeful Yeongyang." He added, "Yeongyang-gun will continue to make every effort so that new dreams and hopes can blossom on the land our ancestors protected with their lives."
