Bucheon City Expands Coverage of Citizen Safety Insurance... Up to 300,000 KRW for Dog Bite Accidents
Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 4th that it will expand the coverage of the Citizen Safety Insurance to include treatment costs for dog bite accidents.
The Citizen Safety Insurance, for which the city fully covers the premiums, provides up to 15 million KRW in insurance benefits in cases of injury or death caused by natural disasters or social disasters.
Insurance benefits can be claimed in cases of death or permanent disability due to explosions, fires, or collapses. Treatment costs are also supported if a person dies while using public transportation or is injured in a traffic accident occurring in a children's protection zone (School Zone).
In particular, starting this year, if emergency room treatment is required due to a dog bite accident, up to 300,000 KRW in treatment costs can be supported.
Additionally, the coverage amount for death caused by natural disasters, gas injury death/injury and permanent disability, and treatment costs for injuries from traffic accidents in School Zones has been increased from 10 million KRW to 15 million KRW.

Korean nationals and foreigners registered as residents in Bucheon City are automatically enrolled in this insurance. The insurance period is from the 1st of this month until February 28th of next year. Insurance claims can be made by the victim or legal heirs within three years of the accident by preparing the necessary documents and submitting them to the insurance agency, the Korea Local Finance Association.
