Naju-si Conducts Comprehensive Pest Control to Prevent Vector-Borne Infectious Diseases
The Naju City Public Health Center in Jeollanam-do announced on the 29th that it will conduct a joint pest control campaign to block infectious diseases transmitted by mosquitoes and other sanitary pests, which surge during the thawing season.
The main pest control sites include places where sanitary pests can overwinter such as building basements and septic tanks, as well as major mosquito habitats like landfill sites, wastewater treatment plants, and densely populated areas.

The city has designated the period from April 11 to April 30 as the "Thawing Season Intensive Pest Control Period," during which the public health center, 20 town and neighborhood pest control teams, and voluntary pest control groups will carry out pest control and disinfection at least three times.
Additionally, a mosquito larva habitat reporting center will be operated to focus pest control efforts on areas with many complaints, minimizing inconvenience to citizens.
A city official stated, "Due to rapid climate changes, the activity period and breeding speed of pests such as mosquitoes have accelerated, requiring early pest control," and added, "We plan to prevent the occurrence of mosquitoes in summer in advance through joint pest control."
Meanwhile, the city has conducted mosquito larva control and disinfection at 644 locations, including senior citizen centers and lakeside parks, up to this month.
