"We Will Strive to Provide New Value with AI"

SK Telecom achieved a remarkable feat by winning two awards at this year’s GSMA Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO), marking its fifth consecutive year of receiving honors.

On the 29th (local time in Barcelona), SKT announced that its AI-based visual assistance voice guidance service, ‘Sullivan Finder,’ and AI cloud management platform, ‘Cloud Radar,’ were successful at GLOMO.

GLOMO is a prestigious global mobile telecommunications awards ceremony held annually by the GSM Association (GSMA). Sullivan Finder won in the category of ‘Best Use of Mobile for Accessibility & Inclusion.’ This award is given to ICT-based ESG-related technologies or services that assist socially vulnerable groups.

Sullivan Finder is an upgraded version of the visual assistance voice guidance service ‘Sullivan Plus,’ enhanced by the addition of multimodal AI to the existing vision AI technology, thereby strengthening support for the outdoor activities of visually impaired individuals.

The multimodal AI applied in Sullivan Finder is trained to recognize and describe objects or targets within a range understandable to visually impaired users. By the end of this year, it plans to improve object recognition accuracy by applying more than 1.6 billion additional images and large language models (LLM).

Cloud Radar won in the ‘Best Cloud Solution’ category. This award is given for mobile cloud-related technologies or services based on AI-driven edge/public cloud management optimization technology.

Cloud Radar is a service that uses AI to analyze cloud usage and patterns and optimize them. SKT explained that it can reduce costs by up to 40% through optimal contract and capacity recommendations enabled by cloud operation automation. This technology is expected to be a core component of SKT’s AI data centers in the future.

Um Jong-hwan, head of SKT’s ESG Innovation, stated, “SK Telecom, aiming to be a global AI company, is actively integrating AI into ESG to solve difficulties faced by people with disabilities not only in Korea but around the world. We will not be satisfied with five consecutive years of awards and will continue to promote AI-based ESG.”

Lee Jong-min, head of SKT’s Future R&D, said, “Winning the GLOMO awards this year is significant as it shows that SKT’s AI technology has been recognized by a credible global institution. We will continue to strive to provide new value to customers, industries, and society through AI technology.”
