Gangseo-gu Achieves Record 4.3 Billion Won in 'Warm Winter Fundraising'
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced on the 28th that the ‘2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Project (Daggyeo)’ achieved a record-high fundraising amount of 4.35 billion KRW.
The ‘Daggyeo’ project is a fundraising campaign carried out by the district and the Seoul Community Chest of Korea (President Kim Jae-rok) under the slogan “Sharing Together, Happiness Together,” aimed at helping low-income vulnerable groups spend a warm winter.
From November 15 last year to February 14 this year, the district conducted various fundraising activities such as the ‘Donation Sharing Relay,’ where donors recommend the next donor, and ‘Collecting Love Piggy Banks’ in collaboration with daycare centers and kindergartens. As a result, a total of 4.35 billion KRW (1.28 billion KRW in cash and approximately 3.07 billion KRW in goods) was raised, marking the highest record ever.
The amount exceeded twice the initial target of 2 billion KRW and was about 300 million KRW more than the amount raised in 2023, according to Gangseo-gu. The district will donate the collected funds and goods to the Seoul Community Chest of Korea and support low-income vulnerable groups in the region according to the donors’ wishes.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “I sincerely thank all donors who were the driving force behind this amazing achievement of the highest fundraising record ever,” and added, “We will do our best to promote a culture of donation and identify welfare blind spots to create a happy welfare and health city together.”
