A survey found that 85.8% of elementary school students in Gyeonggi-do are satisfied with survival swimming education.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education conducted the "2023 Survival Swimming Education Online Survey" from March to December last year, targeting 57,062 elementary students, 4,645 teachers, and 43,116 parents who participated in survival swimming education. Among the student respondents, 85.8% answered that "the survival swimming class was fun."
Additionally, 92.2% of teachers responded that "the survival swimming instructors had excellent swimming education teaching abilities," and 77.4% of parents answered that "the survival swimming class was composed of programs applicable in crisis situations."
Kim Sang-yong, Director of Physical Education and Health at the Provincial Office of Education, stated, "We will reflect the survey results to improve difficulties in the field such as securing swimming pools, reducing school administrative tasks, and improving public awareness." He added, "We will cooperate and communicate with local governments and regional swimming pools to ensure that survival swimming education is stably established."
