Gyeonggi Tourism Organization Invests 30.4 Billion KRW in 50 Projects This Year... Expands Camp Greaves DMZ Experience Center
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will invest 30.4 billion KRW this year to promote 50 projects, including attracting foreign tourists and expanding the Camp Greaves DMZ Experience Center, a lodging-type cultural and artistic experience facility.
On the 28th, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced plans to invest a total of 30.46 billion KRW in 50 projects this year, including ▲12 grant projects such as attracting foreign tourists (12.63 billion KRW) ▲34 consignment projects (15.08 billion KRW) ▲4 self-operated projects such as managing and operating the Peace Nuri Camping Site (2.74 billion KRW).
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will first continue investing in projects such as the Gyeonggi Dulle-gil (860 km) to discover alleys and establish a safe walking travel culture to foster regional tourism hubs. It also plans to strengthen the competitiveness of Gyeonggi tourism festivals to revitalize the local economy.
In particular, the organization will significantly expand Gyeonggi Province’s stay-type tourism projects, including developing night tourism programs and operating specialized content and programs.
To proactively attract domestic and international tourists, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will operate the ‘Gyeonggi Tourism Tour Pass,’ which was first launched last year. It will also enhance the Gyeonggi Northwestern Metropolitan City Tour (Gimpo-Goyang-Paju) product. For the first time this year, the ‘Gyeonggi Youth Travel Director Development’ project will be introduced to provide tourism business expert education programs for youth preparing to start businesses, as well as support regional specialized product contests and customized professional consulting for young prospective startups.
Notably, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization is pushing to establish the first overseas representative office among regional tourism organizations. Bangkok, Thailand, is being actively considered as the target location, taking into account the number of inbound tourists, inbound potential, and feasibility. Currently, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization operates promotional offices in four locations: Shanghai and Qingdao in China, Taipei, and Bangkok.
To strengthen competitiveness in attracting foreign tourists, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will conduct joint marketing with major overseas online platforms, expand high-value group attraction in cooperation with major overseas travel agencies and airlines, and carry out joint promotions using celebrities. Additionally, a public-private joint delegation will be formed to hold Gyeonggi tourism boom-up events in major overseas cities and sister city regions. Brand advertising will be conducted using outdoor electronic billboards at major overseas airports, along with support for overseas marketing expenses in the tourism industry and hospitality campaigns.
Furthermore, to enhance ‘Gyeonggi Tourism Awareness,’ 35 foreign supporters will be selected and operated, and Gyeonggi tourism promotional content will be discovered and registered on mobile platforms to strengthen global recognition.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will also strengthen the DMZ tourism brand to become a hub for differentiated tourism resources such as DMZ peace and ecological tourism. It will host sports events such as the DMZ Peace Marathon and DMZ Peace Walk, and actively develop programs that allow direct viewing and experiencing of the DMZ.
In particular, the Camp Greaves DMZ Experience Center, the only lodging-type cultural and artistic experience facility within the Civilian Control Line, will be expanded and reopened in September this year.
Accordingly, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will promote the construction of ticket booths, safety measures, and the creation of rest areas, and will operate experience programs and new exhibition content in cooperation with related organizations such as education support offices.
