Jeju Governor Oh Young-hoon Appoints Kim Ae-sook, Former Council Secretariat Chief, as Deputy Governor Candidate for Political Affairs
Oh Young-hoon, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, nominated Kim Ae-sook, former Director of the Council Secretariat, as the second candidate for Executive Vice Governor for Political Affairs of the 8th local government on the 27th.
Kim Ae-sook, nominated as the first female Executive Vice Governor for Political Affairs in the history of the provincial government, is from Jocheon-eup, Jeju City. She graduated with a master's degree in Public Administration from Jeju National University and is a public official with over 40 years of experience, having risen from grade 9 to director general.

With this nomination, Kim Ae-sook will take on a significant role as the first female director general (grade 2) of Jeju Province, former Director of the Council Secretariat, and now the first female Executive Vice Governor for Political Affairs.
Kim has held various positions in the Council Secretariat, including Director of the Secretariat, General Affairs Officer, Administrative Autonomy Specialist, and Legislative Officer.
In Jeju Province, she has experience in comprehensive administration, having served as Director of the Tourism Bureau, Director of Social Education at the Talent Development Institute, and in fields such as health and welfare, finance, planning and audit, as well as working in the comprehensive civil service office of Seogwipo City and frontline neighborhood offices.
Jeju Province expects that Kim Ae-sook, who has demonstrated a deep understanding of the philosophy and principles of the 8th local government administration and strong work performance, will help resolve various issues with an emphasis on field communication.
In particular, as a former Director of the Council Secretariat, she is considered well-suited to establish smooth communication and cooperative relationships with the council. She is also expected to foster a harmonious atmosphere centered on gender equality within the public service community and serve as a role model of hope and challenge for all female public officials.
Jeju Province anticipates that Kim, with her comprehensive work experience from frontline neighborhood offices to the Council Secretariat and her excellent communication skills demonstrated during her tenure, will exercise leadership in communication and cooperation. This includes overseeing areas such as culture, tourism, and primary industries, performing political roles related to the National Assembly and the council, and fostering smooth relations with the media and local community organizations as Executive Vice Governor for Political Affairs.

Jeju Province plans to request a personnel hearing for Kim Ae-sook after consultation with the Jeju Provincial Council.
