The resolution, adopted bipartisanly by both the House and Senate, highlighted Hyundai's achievements in Georgia. It noted that Hyundai established the "Hyundai Motor Group Meta Plant America" (HMGMA) in Georgia to build an electric vehicle supply chain and create jobs in the local community. It also emphasized Hyundai's collaboration with various educational institutions to provide training on electric vehicle production to local residents.
Governor Kemp expressed his gratitude, saying, "Hyundai is a wonderful partner for Georgia, especially ensuring that hardworking Georgians benefit." In response, COO Munoz said, "Georgia has become my second home," and added, "I am pleased that Hyundai's investment has created thousands of jobs."
In a press release on the same day, Hyundai also disclosed the construction progress and plans for the Georgia Meta Plant. Official electric vehicle production at the plant is set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024, with an annual production capacity of up to 300,000 electric vehicles under the Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands. The production schedule has been moved up from the originally planned first quarter of 2025, and a plant completion ceremony is expected to take place during that quarter.
