Finding Directions to Gangseo Agricultural and Marine Products Wholesale Market Made Easier... Address Subdivided
The address segmentation work for Gangseo Agricultural and Marine Products Wholesale Market has been completed, which is expected to significantly alleviate the inconvenience experienced by market users and merchants. Address segmentation refers to assigning new road names, building numbers, etc., to facilities where multiple buildings share a single address.
Until now, the wholesale market lacked detailed addresses for each store, causing inconvenience for residents and merchants. Accordingly, Gangseo-gu initiated address segmentation within the wholesale market and assigned new road names ‘Gangseo Domaesijang-ro’ and ‘Sijang Domaein-ro’ within the market.
Additionally, unique building numbers were assigned to 18 buildings within the market, and detailed addresses were given to 588 stores. For example, the Fisheries Cooperative Auction Hall was assigned Gangseo Domaesijang-ro 130, and the Fruit and Vegetable Building was assigned Gangseo Domaesijang-ro 65 as their new addresses.
A basic database (DB) containing road name addresses, building numbers, and detailed address information was established, and address guidance facilities such as road name signs and building number plates were installed. This basic data will also be used in the future to build address information for drone and autonomous robot deliveries.

The district expects that accurate location identification and prompt logistics delivery within the wholesale market will enhance convenience for market users and merchants.
Meanwhile, this project was promoted as part of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘2023 Address System Advancement and Address-Based Innovative Industry Model Development’ contest project. The district announced that due to this project and others, it was selected as an excellent institution for two consecutive years in the 2023 address information work evaluation hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government last year.
