"Expecting Additional Orders in North Africa Ultra-High Voltage Business"
Daehan Electric Wire & Cable has entered the Egyptian ultra-high voltage cable market for the first time. The company explained that winning the project for the highest voltage '500 kV' among commercialized high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) cables is a significant achievement.
On the 22nd, Daehan Electric Wire & Cable announced that it had won the 500 kV ultra-high voltage power grid project ordered by the Egyptian government joint venture Electric Power Systems Engineering Company (EPS).
The project connects the existing substation in the northeastern Badr region of Egypt with a new HVDC converter station using underground (above ground) power cables. Daehan Electric Wire & Cable will supply the 500 kV HVAC cables and oversee project management and supervision.

A Daehan Electric Wire & Cable official said, "Domestically, Daehan Electric Wire & Cable was the first to successfully develop and commercialize the product and has exported it to the United States, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and Southeast Asia. In particular, we demonstrated our UHV project management capabilities and competitiveness by successfully completing the first 500 kV power grid construction project in North America, conducted in Chino Hills, California."

500 kV is the highest voltage used in Egypt. The selection process for contractors involves a strict evaluation of technical capabilities.
Based on its experience winning ultra-high voltage projects in the United States and Europe, Daehan Electric Wire & Cable has won against global companies and pioneered the market. The company expects to secure a competitive advantage in power infrastructure projects and renewable energy projects promoted in Egypt in the future.
