Operation of ‘Uridongne Dolbomdan’ in Jungnang-gu
Launch Ceremony and Job Training of Our Neighborhood Care Team on the 21st
Composed of 100 Local Residents, Weekly Calls and Visits to Check on At-Risk Households
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) operates the ‘Uri Dongnae Dolbomdan’ (Our Neighborhood Care Team) to prevent solitary deaths among vulnerable groups and socially isolated households.
On the 21st, the district held the launch ceremony for the ‘Uri Dongnae Dolbomdan’ and conducted job training and safety education to strengthen the team’s capabilities. Residents who joined the care team attended the ceremony and pledged to warmly care for their neighbors throughout the year.
The ‘Uri Dongnae Dolbomdan’ is a human safety network in Jungnang-gu composed of local residents who are well acquainted with the community. Up to 10 members operate in each neighborhood, carefully checking on their neighbors’ well-being.
A total of 100 members of the Jungnang-gu Uri Dongnae Dolbomdan monitor approximately 40 households at risk of solitary death per member and regularly check on their status. They make weekly phone calls to inquire about living conditions and also visit homes to provide companionship, offering both well-being checks and emotional support.
Additionally, depending on the living conditions of households in crisis, they connect them to necessary welfare services and private organizations for assistance.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, “Thanks to the Uri Dongnae Dolbomdan, who run around on foot for their neighbors, Jungnang is becoming a warmer and more livable place. We will continue to build a more thorough safety net to minimize welfare blind spots so that no neighbors are left isolated and everyone can live together in Jungnang.”
