"People Power Party Cutoff Likely to Be Fewer Than 7... Excluded If Changing Electoral District"
Jang Dong-hyeok, Secretary General of the People Power Party, "Will Ensure No Disadvantages in Electoral District Redistricting"
Regarding Leak Rumors of Cutoff Candidate List, "Will Take Action After Investigation"
The number of incumbent lawmakers subject to cut-off (exclusion from the primary) through evaluation by the People Power Party may be fewer than the initially reported seven. Lawmakers who have changed their constituencies are excluded from the cut-off list, and the next-ranked candidates will not be additionally included in the cut-off list.
Jang Dong-hyeok, Secretary General of the People Power Party, said at a meeting with reporters on the 7th regarding the cut-off candidates, "Those who have already changed their constituencies are not included in the evaluation of incumbent lawmakers," adding, "The same criteria will be applied, and even if there is a constituency adjustment at the party's request, no one will suddenly be included in the bottom 10% or 30% and suffer unforeseen disadvantages." He explained that there will be no disadvantages such as cut-off or low evaluation penalties for those who comply with constituency reallocation.

Earlier, the People Power Party decided in January that seven lawmakers who received low evaluations (bottom 10% or lower), determined by region, would be completely excluded from nominations. Lawmakers ranked between the bottom 10% and 30% were evaluated based on party audit results, cut-off investigations led by the nomination committee, and party contribution, and 18 lawmakers (determined by region) were subjected to a 20% penalty. For incumbents with three or more terms in the same district, an automatic deduction of 15% from the primary vote rate will also be applied.
Secretary General Jang also stated regarding the seven cut-off candidates, "They have not been notified yet." However, he declined to comment on the timing of the notification. Regarding reports that some media outlets had obtained the list, he said, "We will investigate whether the list was actually provided or if it was reported without a list, and if necessary, take appropriate measures."
