Yoon Won-seok Appointed New Head of Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority: "Focusing on Attracting Investment in Advanced Industries"
Yoon Won-seok (68), the 8th Commissioner of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, was inaugurated on the 20th.
At the inauguration ceremony, Commissioner Yoon stated, "Based on the remarkable achievements made over the past 20 years since the launch of the Incheon Free Economic Zone, we will create an innovative ecosystem that leads future industries in Incheon," adding, "We will spare no effort or capability to realize the 'dream of a top-tier city' with the world's best global competitiveness."
He also emphasized, "As the Incheon Free Economic Zone enters its maturity stage, investment demand is increasing, but available land is insufficient. We will actively work to expand the Free Economic Zone to overcome this current situation and attract core strategic industries," stressing, "This is a key task for New Hong Kong City and Jemulpo Renaissance that must be accomplished, and through this, we will strive to foster strategic industries and create quality jobs."
During his tenure, Commissioner Yoon plans to focus on attracting advanced industries such as bio, healthcare, and tourism leisure, establish a smart city innovation ecosystem, attract prestigious overseas educational institutions and domestic universities, and designate additional Free Economic Zones within Incheon.
Commissioner Yoon graduated from Sungkyunkwan University and joined the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in 1986. He is an expert in industry, trade, and investment attraction, having served as head of the Vancouver Trade Office, Busan Trade Office, Los Angeles KBC Center, Director of Planning and Coordination, and Head of the Economic and Trade Cooperation Headquarters. He later served as a special professor at Sookmyung Women's University and as President overseeing overseas business at Hancom Group.

The Commissioner of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, appointed by the Mayor of Incheon in consultation with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is an open-type local government official (Grade 1) with a three-year term. The role involves attracting investment to the Free Economic Zone, establishing development plan strategies, and overseeing and coordinating the operation of the Economic Zone Authority.
