Suwon-si Conducts Mapping and Inspection of 423 Environmental Pollutant Emission Facilities
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will conduct inspections and monitoring of 423 facilities emitting environmental pollutants and unregistered business sites until December. The facilities subject to inspection include automobile repair shop painting facilities, boiler facilities, car wash facilities, and physicochemical testing facilities (over 100㎡).
They will test the pollution levels of emission facilities and provide environmental technology consulting to businesses.
Unregistered business sites emitting environmental pollutants will be intensively inspected. Administrative actions such as suspension or closure orders will be issued, and criminal charges will be filed against unregistered sites.
Facilities under registration and permit management must be careful to avoid violations such as abnormal operation, failure to report changes, and failure to complete environmental technician training.
Last year, Suwon inspected 405 sites and detected violations at 73 sites, imposing fines and other penalties.
Suwon operates a reward system for reporting. If illegal activities leading to closure orders or improvement orders are confirmed through citizen reports, a reward will be given. Reports can be made to the Environmental Hygiene Division of each district office or the Environmental Policy Division of the city hall (031-228-3899).
