Gyeonggi-do to Increase Resident Participation Budget to 50 Billion Won Next Year... Applications Accepted Until April 19
Gyeonggi Province will accept resident proposal projects for reflecting in next year's resident participatory budget until April 19.
On the 19th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will allocate up to 50 billion KRW for next year's resident participatory budget and promote projects classified into three types: ▲Provincial Administration Participation Type ▲Regional Support Type ▲Public-Private Cooperation Type.
The Provincial Administration Participation Type includes projects under the jurisdiction of the province and projects implemented across two or more cities/counties. The province plans to increase the adoption rate by supplementing resident proposals through public-private budget councils and roundtable meetings.
The Regional Support Type covers projects that require provincial support to solve regional issues and pilot projects led by other cities/counties. It reflects local opinions through deliberations by city/county project departments and resident participatory budget committees.
The Public-Private Cooperation Type refers to projects proposed by non-profit private organizations, committees, and autonomous associations located in Gyeonggi Province. This type aims to realize practical cooperation effects by discovering agendas and conducting deliberation processes through public-private cooperation, and will operate in two forms: general type and youth participation type.
Residents wishing to propose projects can apply through the Gyeonggi Province Resident Participatory Budget website (yesan.gg.go.kr) or participate by submitting a project application form via email or postal mail.
Gyeonggi Province will provide a mobile gift certificate worth about 10,000 KRW to 100 selected proposers by lottery, and award a prize worth about 100,000 KRW if the proposal is selected. Outstanding proposers will also receive a commendation from the governor.
Kim Hoon, Budget Officer of Gyeonggi Province, explained, "This year's resident participatory budgeting system has expanded resident participation not only in budget formulation but also in settlement and mid-term execution checks throughout the entire process."
