‘Gilwie Kim Dae-jung’ Support Screening Event Hosted by Yoo Ji-tae: "A Time to Learn Politics and History"
Inviting 100 University Students and Channel Subscribers at Personal Expense
Actor Yoo Ji-tae held a support screening event for the film 'Kim Dae-jung on the Road'.
Since 2012, Yoo Ji-tae has been introducing high-quality independent films to the public through 'Watching Independent Films with Yoo Ji-tae' every year. He previously supported the play 'Temple' as well. For this year's 22nd work, he selected 'Kim Dae-jung on the Road'. He purchased tickets at his own expense and invited 100 audience members, including students from Konkuk University’s Department of Film and Video, where he currently works as a professor, and subscribers of his personal YouTube channel.
On the 14th at 7 p.m., a screening of 'Kim Dae-jung on the Road' (directed by Min Hwan-gi) was held at Indie Space in Seoul. Before the screening, Yoo Ji-tae took the stage and explained the purpose, saying, “I hope that our Korean films, especially independent films, will be preserved by actors, filmmakers, and industry professionals, so I continue to hold these screening events.”
He said, “I don’t know much about politics, but after watching director Junji Sakamoto’s film 'KT' in the past, I learned about President Kim Dae-jung. I was impressed by an interview where he said, ‘Although he personally endured unimaginable hardships, he chose the path of reconciliation.’” He added, “I hope this opportunity will be a good time to learn about Korean political history and history.”
