Gyeongbuk Province to Hire 1,445 New Public Officials This Year, 174 Fewer Than Last Year
Gyeongbuk Province announced the ‘2024 Gyeongsangbuk-do Local Government Employee Recruitment Examination Plan’ on the provincial government website on the 15th.
The number of local government employees to be recruited in Gyeongsangbuk-do this year has been confirmed at 1,445. This includes 58 for grade 7, 54 for grade 8, 1,279 for grade 9, 24 research positions, and 30 guidance positions, which is a decrease of 174 (10.7%) from last year’s 1,619.
Considering that Gunwi-gun was incorporated into Daegu City in July last year, excluding the recruitment scale of Gunwi-gun, this represents a slight decrease.
Through the open competitive recruitment exam, 1,272 people (88%) will be selected across 21 job series including grade 7 administrative positions, and through the career competitive recruitment exam, 173 people (12%) will be selected across 16 job series including grade 7 veterinary positions.
By recruiting institution, Gyeongbuk Province will recruit 57 people, and among 22 cities and counties, Andong City 121, Uiseong-gun 98, Ulleung-gun 90, Yeongcheon City 89, Pohang City 82, etc. In total, 32 people will be recruited for the provincial and city/county councils.
By job series, there are 496 administrative positions, 245 facility positions, 100 social welfare positions, 84 agricultural positions, 64 industrial positions, 43 tax positions, and 43 health positions.
To realize social integration and secure diversity within public service, 120 people will be recruited through separate recruitment for persons with disabilities, 39 through separate recruitment for low-income groups, and 34 through separate recruitment for graduates (or expected graduates) of specialized high schools and Meister high schools in technical fields.
Changes starting this year include lowering the age requirement for applicants for local government employee recruitment exams of grade 7 and above from ‘20 years or older’ to ‘18 years or older,’ and expanding the exemption from application fees. Previously, exemptions applied to recipients under the National Basic Living Security Act, near-poverty groups, and those supported under the Single-Parent Family Support Act; now, recipients under the Disability Pension Act and caregivers raising two or more minor children are also included.
Additionally, Ulleung-gun has relaxed separate residency restriction requirements, allowing applicants who meet common requirements to apply. Due to Gunwi-gun’s incorporation into Daegu Metropolitan City (July 1, 2023), the period of residence in the former Gunwi-gun does not count as residence in Gyeongsangbuk-do but counts as residence in Daegu City.
Furthermore, Gyeongbuk Province stated that it will meticulously provide convenience support systems for persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and others to ensure no inconvenience.
The 1st career competitive recruitment exam (for research positions, etc.) will begin accepting applications from March 4, and the 1st open competitive recruitment exam (grades 8 and 9) will begin accepting applications from March 25. Applications can be submitted through the local government internet application center.
Detailed information on this year’s exam schedule and qualification requirements can be found on the Gyeongbuk Province website and the local government internet application center.
