KOSPI Closes Down at 2613.80 Amid Foreign and Institutional 'Sell-Off'

On the 15th, the KOSPI closed lower due to selling pressure from foreigners and institutions. The KOSDAQ ended on an upward trend.
The KOSPI closed at 2,613.80, down 0.25% (6.62 points) from the previous day. The index opened at 2,643.81, up 0.89% (23.39 points) from the previous close, but turned downward as foreigners shifted to selling.
Foreigners and institutions sold a net 8.1 billion KRW and 49.3 billion KRW respectively. Individuals also sold a net 29.6 billion KRW. In the futures market, individuals and foreigners bought 190.8 billion KRW and 6.6 billion KRW respectively, while institutions alone sold 208.7 billion KRW.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, the trend was mixed. Samsung Electronics closed down 1.35% at 73,000 KRW. Hyundai Motor fell 2.24%, Kia 3.49%, Samsung Biologics 0.85%, and Celltrion 0.87%.
The KOSDAQ closed at 859.21, up 0.69% (5.91 points) from the previous day. It opened at 860.13, up 0.80% (6.83 points) from the previous close. The index was driven up by individuals who bought a net 107.8 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions sold 90 billion KRW and 8.5 billion KRW respectively.
