Announcing Snow Driving Technology... Mobis Hosts Customers for Harsh Winter Testing in Sweden
Engineers Including Mercedes-Benz Invited to Winter Test Site in Sweden
Event to Last One Week Starting from the 29th
Hyundai Mobis announced that it will conduct extreme cold weather testing by inviting overseas automaker engineers to its winter testing ground in Arjeplog, northern Sweden, for one week starting from the 29th.
Engineers from overseas automakers, including customers such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW, are scheduled to participate in this event. It was prepared to demonstrate the performance of core safety technologies in braking and steering under harsh winter road conditions such as snowy and icy roads. This is the first time the company has held an extreme cold weather technology experience event for overseas customers.

Participants can directly verify whether braking and steering technologies, which are directly related to passenger safety in winter driving conditions, perform as expected. The Arjeplog area, where the winter testing ground is located, has an average temperature of minus 15 degrees Celsius and can drop to as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius. The testing ground is equipped with various tracks, including a general-purpose test track, slopes, circular tracks, and urban driving roads.
The company will also showcase the in-wheel system, considered a next-generation electrification technology. This technology involves installing a drive motor inside each wheel of the vehicle for direct control, which improves efficiency and offers advantages such as stable body control and cornering performance. The company explained that holding an event to reveal and demonstrate this technology in harsh environments reflects their confidence in their core component technology.
In addition to Sweden, the company operates winter testing grounds in Heihe, Heilongjiang Province, China, and New Zealand. This allows for year-round verification of component performance and reliability evaluation in winter environments. The company plans to regularly hold customer-invited technology events like this one. The company stated, "We aim to move beyond simple technology exhibitions and provide customers with opportunities to directly experience the technology to find collaboration opportunities," adding, "We will strengthen contact points with overseas customers and continuously increase overseas orders."
