View original imageAccording to the Korea Meteorological Administration, due to the influence of a pressure trough descending from the north, rain or snow will begin in the early morning of the 15th in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Yeongseo, Chungcheong region, and Jeonbuk, and will expand nationwide from the morning. Rain will start to stop from the late afternoon in the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungnam region, and will mostly cease by night. Some areas along the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk will continue until the early morning of the 16th.
Especially, heavy snow is forecast mainly in Gangwon Yeongdong. Strong snowfall of 1 to 3 cm per hour is expected from morning to evening in the Gangwon mountainous area and the central and northern eastern coast of Gangwon. More than 15 cm of snow will accumulate in the Gangwon mountains, and more than 10 cm in the northern Gangwon eastern coast.
Expected precipitation amounts are 5 to 10 mm in most areas including Seoul, Incheon, southern Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, and Gyeongsang regions. Northern Gyeonggi is expected to receive 5 to 20 mm, Gangwon Yeongdong 5 to 30 mm, Gyeongbuk eastern coast and Jeju 5 to 20 mm, and Gwangju, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, and the West Sea areas around 5 mm.
Expected snowfall amounts are more than 15 cm in the central and northern Gangwon mountainous areas, 3 to 10 cm in the Gangwon mountains, more than 10 cm in the northern Gangwon eastern coast, and 2 to 7 cm in the central and northern Gangwon eastern coast. Northern and eastern parts of Gyeonggi will see 1 to 3 cm, northeastern mountainous areas of Gyeongbuk 1 to 5 cm, and northern Gyeongbuk eastern coast 1 to 3 cm of snow accumulation.
The Korea Meteorological Administration urged caution for damage to facilities such as vinyl greenhouses, as wet and heavy snow is expected mainly in the Gangwon mountains and eastern coast, northeastern mountainous areas of Gyeongbuk, and northern Gyeongbuk eastern coast.

View original imageAs the rain stops, temperatures will drop below freezing from the central region in the afternoon of the 15th and in the southern region by the early morning of the 16th. There may be icy roads or thin ice due to freezing rain or snow.
Until the morning, warm southwesterly winds will bring temperatures higher than usual. Morning temperatures are expected to be around 5 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country, with daytime highs ranging from 4 to 17 degrees. On Friday the 16th, morning temperatures will drop by 5 to 10 degrees, with most areas experiencing below-freezing temperatures in the morning.
Fine dust levels are expected to be 'Good' to 'Moderate' nationwide.
Until the morning of the 16th, strong winds with gusts exceeding 15 m/s are expected in most parts of the country. Especially along the western coast of Chungnam, the Jeolla coast, and Jeju Island, gusts will exceed 20 m/s, and in mountainous areas, gusts will exceed 25 m/s, blowing very strongly.
Winds will be very strong over most seas, with waves reaching 2 to 4 meters in height. On the afternoon of the 15th, waves will exceed 5.0 meters in the outer seas of the central East Sea and the northern outer seas of the southern East Sea.
Waves in the near seas will be 0.5 to 4.0 meters in the East Sea, 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the South Sea. In the inner offshore waters (about 200 km from the coastline), wave heights are expected to be 1.0 to 4.5 meters in the East Sea, 1.0 to 4.0 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 4.0 meters in the South Sea.
