Yangcheon-gu Presents Hwarang Military Merit Medal to Korean War Veterans
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced on the morning of the 13th at the district office meeting room (5th floor) that Mayor Lee Gi-jae of Yangcheon-gu presented the Hwarang Military Merit Medal to the bereaved family of the late Private Im Byeong-cho, a Korean War veteran.
The late Private Im Byeong-cho enlisted in the military in 1949 and participated in the Battle of Sangju, Gyeongbuk Province, on July 27, 1950. Recognizing his merits, the medal was delivered to his family 74 years later through the Ministry of National Defense's "Finding Heroes of the Korean War Military Merit Medal" project. The Hwarang Military Merit Medal is the fourth highest military decoration in South Korea, awarded to those who have demonstrated distinguished military service in battle.
