Moa Center Planned for Sori Maeul in Gireum-dong in Second Half of This Year
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Seung-ro) has launched the 'Hancheon Village Moa Center,' a village management office providing community-based public services in Hancheon Village, Seokgwan-dong, starting operations on the 1st of this month.
On the 7th, an opening ceremony was held to introduce the Moa Center to the residents of Seokgwan-dong.
The Moa Center offers various services similar to those of apartment management offices to residents in areas densely populated with single-family and multi-family houses. Seokgwan-dong, a low-rise residential area with many aging houses, was selected as the first project site for the Moa Center in Seongbuk-gu. The center was established on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the newly constructed Hancheon Village Community Facility in August last year.
The Moa Center will provide services including ▲improving living environments and risk management (patrolling alleys and vulnerable areas, night patrols in high-crime areas, inspection of public facilities) ▲alleviating inconveniences for vulnerable groups (simple home repairs, checking on the elderly) ▲operating community spaces (rental of the multipurpose room on the 3rd floor). It operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with six village keepers working in two shifts?morning and afternoon?in teams of three.
The village keepers at Hancheon Village Moa Center are residents familiar with the area, who patrol various parts of the neighborhood to quickly identify and resolve residents' inconveniences. They will collaborate with the local community center and residents' autonomy committee to develop programs tailored to the area's characteristics.
District Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, “With the help of the village keepers at Hancheon Village Moa Center, we expect the living environment of Seokgwan-dong residents to improve,” adding, “We will strive to expand this public service to other areas in need, starting with Seokgwan-dong.”
Starting with Hancheon Village in Seokgwan-dong, another Moa Center will be established in Sorimaeul, Gireum-dong, in the second half of this year to serve as a helping hand for residents in need.
